Fallout 2 is getting a full remake in Fallout 4's engine

Fallout 2 is getting a full remake in Fallout 4's engine

A Fallout classic is getting a remake

Even before the arrival of the critically acclaimed Fallout live-action series from Amazon Studios, Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic RPG has remained popular with vault dwellers eager to explore the wasteland.

However, following the success of Amazon’s Fallout series, which has now been renewed for a second season, beloved games in the RPG franchise have seen a massive spike in returning players and new explorers keen to see what all the fuss is about. So now, perhaps more than ever, there’s no better time to immerse yourself in everything that Fallout has to offer.

Check out the Fallout 2 remake comparison video below!

For many, the introduction to Bethesda’s post-apocalyptic series may have been in 2008 with Fallout 3. Yet, before Bethesda acquired the rights to the series, the first two mainline games were published by Interplay Productions with Fallout in 1998 and its sequel the following year.

Back in February this year, we reported that a fan remake of Fallout 2 is on the way powered by Fallout 4’s Creation Engine. The Fallout 2 remake in question called Fallout: Project Arroyo had a location trailer released that gave us an indication of what to expect from the project.

Now, a new trailer has been released showcasing comparisons between the Fallout 2 game of 1998 and the upcoming remake. Back in the late 90s, the Fallout series was a very different game than what it is today.

Sure, both the original two games are post-apocalyptic RPGs, but they were also point-and-click adventures played in an isometric perspective. So it’s fascinating to see the comparison trailer for Fallout: Project Arroyo featuring the Fallout 2 of yesteryear and the fan remake side-by-side.

At this time, Fallout: Project Arroyo does not have a release date but it could be a couple of years away at least. What’s more, much like Fallout: Vault 13 and Fallout: London, Fallout: Project Arroyo will be PC only and not available on consoles.
