Fallout 3 is already a great game in its own right but pairing it up with Fallout: New Vegas would be the icing on the cake. That’s not possible you might think but thanks to one creator, it is ready to play right now.

Tale of Two Wastelands is a “total conversion project that seamlessly merges Fallout 3 and its DLC into Fallout: New Vegas, allowing both games to be played in a single playthrough.” According to the official mod page, TTW upgrades Fallout 3’s mechanics to New Vegas’ in order to sync and balance the two separate games. This will allow you to feel as though you are playing one full and unique game.

As a result, much-loved mechanics from Fallout: New Vegas have been carried over to Fallout 3 including “the companion wheel, companion perks, weapon mods, crafting, recipes, harvestable plants, and poisons”. Not only that but the mod has even restored some deleted content as well as fixing “hundreds” of bugs, adding brand-new items and even lifting the level cap from 50 to 60.

“TTW isn't just FO3 in FNV. It has become a unique game, with its own balance, fixes, changes, additions and other unique things that differentiates it from both FO3 and FNV,” the creator wrote. It is an incredible feat considering both Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas are considered perhaps the best instalments in the Fallout series so combining them both can only be a good thing. Luckily, all you need to be able to install and experience the TTW mod is a clean (meaning no mods installed) installation of both titles.

In related news, it looks as though Fallout fans are in for the long haul after recent reports revealing we may not see Fallout 5 until at least 2030. With Bethesda currently working on their latest title, Starfield as well as the next instalment in The Elder Scrolls series, it seems to have its hands full. Luckily for them, we have some incredible mods to help pass the time.
