Fallout 4 PS5, Xbox Series X free update shared by Bethesda

Fallout 4 PS5, Xbox Series X free update shared by Bethesda

It's coming soon

Fallout 4 fans have been waiting a long time for a new gen update to the game which brings the fan favourite into the newest generation of visual fidelity.

Bethesda has apparently been hard at work trying to bring the game onto modern consoles but it’s taking longer than anyone expected. This isn’t much of a surprise given the size of Fallout 4 and the number of textures and models that will need updating.

Fallout 4 has become quite the classic over the past few years

Bethesda recently took to Twitter to let fans know they’re still working on the update saying, “Thank you for your patience with us as we work on the Fallout 4 next-gen update. We know you're excited, and so are we! But we need a bit more time and look forward to an exciting return to the Commonwealth in 2024.” While the brief update doesn’t include a firm release date, it’s good to know that work continues.

Fallout 4 is the most recent single-player adventure in the post-apocalyptic universe from Bethesda and still has many players exploring its wastelands while we all wait for news on the next iteration in the franchise. According to Todd Howard, Bethesda chief, Fallout 5 will be the next big RPG after The Elder Scrolls 6, which itself is still quite far off. In fact, the development team is only just moving over to Elder Scrolls from Starfield.

Fallout 4 was a huge leap forward for the franchise adding things such as outpost construction which then found its way into Starfield. There’s always a hot debate as to which is better, Fallout 3 or Fallout 4, personally, I prefer the third installment for its story.

The update was originally due for 2023 but seemed destined to be delayed. The content of the update, as far as we know, will focus on the performance mode that gives players a higher framerate, a quality mode for 4K graphics, plus many bug fixes and some quality-of-life updates.
