Do you ever get an hour or two into a new game and think ‘this could have been an email’? Me neither but it could happen especially for those of us who played Fallout 4. The post-apocalyptic RPG is part of a much-loved series but with the fourth instalment having a few issues, it’s not surprising some fans wished it didn’t go past the opening scenes.
For those who haven’t played Fallout 4, the start of the game begins with the Sole Survivor and their family descending into underground vaults after nukes begin to drop across a futuristic America. As you can probably guess from their title, the Sole Survivor is the only one who makes it out two hundred years later and finds themselves face-to-face with a doomed landscape. The game begins in earnest here but for some people, they could have done without the sole survival bit.

Luckily for them, a mod titled More Realistic Intro for Fallout 4 makes one “small but significant tweak to the game’s intro to make it more realistic.” Its creator, UnrealSeptim writes, “Fallout 4 is not a very realistic game, and that's okay. However, there is one scene that stands out as particularly ridiculous: the intro sequence.

Are we really expected to believe that our character just happened to make it into the vault at the exact same time as the bomb fell? And are we also supposed to believe that just being a few feet underground would keep our character completely safe from the resulting blast wave? No. Nuclear bombs do not work that way.”
They do make a good point and that is why this mod removes the player’s ability to survive. As you can probably guess, this will make the whole Fallout 4 experience around 10 minutes long. This is useful for speed runners but perhaps not people who actually want to play the Bethesda title. If you do wish to experience it, or trick your friends into trying it, you will need a fresh save and that’s about it.
