The universe of Fallout is expanding and a new release is on the horizon. Very soon you’ll be able to interact with some of the wasteland's most famous characters in a new and unique way.
On 8 March Fallout will become the latest pop culture property to expand into Magic the Gathering. After the huge success with the Doctor Who and Lord of the Rings crossovers, Wizards of the Coast are tapping one of gaming’s biggest franchises for the next installment in Universes Beyond.
The Fallout universe continues to grow through games, but now through a card game too
With every new expansion or universe explored Magic the Gathering gets bigger and ushers in new gaming mechanics. With the introduction of Fallout players will get to play with energy storing once again, plus deal with the newest mechanic, radiation. ‘Rads’ will be a new economy that provides buffs to your cards while dealing damage to both you and your opponents, creating a great balance of offense with risk and reward attached.

The cards being released will take in various characters and moments from the games including character cards for Dogmeat, Mothman, Nick Valentine, Caesar, and many more. This is a great way for Fallout fans to get into MtG, or just collect some gorgeous cards. The initial release will include four commander decks and collector boosters, the latter of which can be opened and used to create your own commander or standard deck.
These adventures into other universes provide a great jumping-on-point for new players. We’re not only playing with Fallout cards, but over the next year or two, MtG will be crossing over with Marvel comics, Final Fantasy, and Assassin’s Creed. And these are on top of the usual MtG expansions. The future is looking really bright for the TCG and fans of gaming will have plenty of chances to grab some great cards.
