Files Found In 'Spider-Man' PC Version Suggest Sony Working On Something Huge

Last week saw the release of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered on PC, adding yet another fantastic game to Sony’s expanding collection of PlayStation games on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

It didn’t take long for people to discover that within the port’s files, there were references to what appear to be unused PvP and co-op modes - it’s not currently known if these were features that were scrapped during development, or if they could later be added in an update (fans are certainly hoping for the latter). Now though, as reported by VGC, even more files have been uncovered, which point to something pretty big.

Reportedly, there are references to a “PlayStation PC launcher” - something which doesn’t currently exist, but now it seems like it could be something on the horizon. As VGC writes, up to now, Sony’s PC ports have just launched via Steam or Epic Games, and without the need to login via PSN. However, it was noticed just a few days ago that on a FAQ section on PlayStation’s website, there was a strong implication that this might not be the case forever, and PSN accounts could be required in the future. Whether this could be tied to a PC launcher isn’t currently known, but it’d certainly make sense.

Back in May, a PlayStation job listing also suggested that PSN platform integration would be coming to PC, so none of this is too surprising, but it looks like we could be seeing some big changes coming to Sony’s PC ports soon.
