Square Enix’s big ol’ Final Fantasy MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV, continues to be super popular. Last month, in a spectacular instance of the internet being the internet, one of the game’s servers, renowned for its erotic roleplay, saw a literal army of catgirls take on the duty of guarding the entrance to stop “tourist” players from going inside, and seeing the secrets that dwell within.
When players aren’t busy becoming virtual bouncers, though, they’re apparently spending their time making already difficult parts of the game even harder, because everyone loves a challenge, right? We’re not just talking no-hit runs of tricky bosses though - the dance mats are out again, folks.
Final Fantasy XIV isn't the only game people have been playing with dance mats lately - take a look at this Elden Ring player taking down the final boss in style below.
As reported by GamesRadar+, one player, who goes by BIGGMILKY on Twitch and YouTube, has managed to fell the level 90 Asphodelos: The First Circle raid on Savage difficulty, all while using the most exercise-intensive controller of all time. Not only do they manage to swiftly dodge Erichthonios’ attacks (they did the whole thing without dying once), but all their attacks were also inputted using the dance mat. How any person can have the coordination to pull something like this off, I have no idea.
“This was the most EPIC thing I've ever seen. You are an amazing player and even better entertainer,” YouTube user Tethys Allura wrote. “Let this be a testament to all that anyone can play this game, to any degree, on any controller/keyboard or in this case[,] dance mat. Believe in yourself, and make sure you are surrounded by those of like minded nature. Seek out adventure and enjoy,” commented Just Some Guy.

Funnily enough, this isn’t the first time this year we’ve seen gamers putting on their dance shoes to take down big bosses. One Elden Ring player managed to take down the game’s final boss in this very same way, which I have nothing but respect for. I’ll be sticking to regular controllers though, thanks.
