We’ve all done it, taken ages to discover a very useful in-game feature. It took me way too long in Horizon Zero Dawn to realise that I could fast travel everywhere. I just kept on running, taking in the sights. In God of War, it was almost the end of the game before I realised that runic attacks could also be upgraded (I swear they don’t tell you).
Own up. We’ve all got an example, but this Final Fantasy 14 player’s experience may just be the most painful of the lot. Imagine finding a useful feature after 6,500 hours. I can’t even begin to imagine how that would feel. Embarrassing? Infuriating? Both?

This is exactly what happened to Twitter user fisherfruity who after 6,500 hours in Final Fantasy 14 discovered you could rent Chocobo Mounts. They took to the social media site to write, “TIL: You can RENT CHOCOBO MOUNTS? You mean I didn’t have TO RUN ALL THIS TIME!? 6.5K hours and how am I just learning this?” Oof.

Fisherfruity went on to add, “I thought this was an old addition. Apparently this has been in since Patch 1.19. So it’s an ARCHAIC addition.” You’ve got to laugh. It’s unfortunate but it’s also hilarious. At least I was only around 20 hours into Horizon before I noticed my own quick travel failure.
It turns out that fisherfruity isn’t actually alone in not knowing this. Spofiee replied, “Over 10,000 hours and I had no idea what is dis,” while LalaKittyKattt added, “512 days of gameplay and I’m JUST LEARNING THIS,” so for anyone in doubt, utilise those Chocobo Mounts.
