First 'Scarface 2' Gameplay Appears Online

We finally know what the gameplay for Radical Entertainment's Scarface 2 would have been like.

At some point in the late 00s, Activision acquired Radical Entertainment and decided to cancel the sequel to 2006’s Scarface: The World Is Yours. I can’t really say it was a sad day as we didn’t even know that the game existed, but ex-Radical Entertainment devs have now finally lifted the lid on the cancelled project.

Just last month, a bunch of screenshots from the game were released online alongside concept art proving just how promising the sequel looked. It appeared as if the game was to be set in Las Vegas, sending us all into a frenzy dreaming of what the game might’ve been like. Well, now we have an even better idea as gameplay footage has leaked online.

Scarface: The World Is Yours was released during the iconic PlayStation 2 era. Take a look at GAMINGbible’s top 10 favourite PlayStation 2 games below.

YouTube channel Mafia Game Videos unearthed gameplay footage from Scarface 2, and it’s really like rubbing salt in the wound. In the footage, we see a Las Vegas turf war level as well as the game’s driving mechanics. It also looks like the game would've had a boat chase / shoot off. Check out the footage below.

The game was apparently going to be titled Scarface: Empire and would’ve picked up soon after the events of The World Is Yours. We know very little beyond this and perhaps we never will know. There are no plans to revive the franchise although I’m sure if they did, a ton of people would be interested.

Unsurprisingly, users flocked to the video’s comments to share their thoughts on the game. Purposeless Rabbitholes wrote, “This is sick. Sad as hell that this game got cancelled, TWIY is an all-timer open world crime game,” while dwsja said, “Oh my god, I really can't believe I'm seeing this! Ever since I heard about the cancelled game years and years ago, I never thought any of it would see the light of day.” I don’t know if seeing this gameplay footage is causing me joy or pain, but I suppose it’s a blessing that we got to see even a tiny glimpse of what could’ve been.
