'Fortnite' Revives Controversial Feature After Nearly Three Years

The world’s most popular battle royale Fortnite has recently added a lot of controversial changes in hopes of spicing up the formula.
Last month Epic Games announced that it would be removing the thing which made Fortnite different from its 1v100 peers, the building, for the start of Season 2 Chapter 3. While the change was only supposed to last a fortnight (hey, that’s the name of the game) after lots of positive feedback from fans, the studio confirmed that they would be making the change permanent. It’s still possible to play the original version, building and all, but Epic have created a new no build mode, for those who enjoyed playing during the event.

While this change has been met positively by fans, players are split about the latest addition. Jetpacks were originally introduced in 2018. While they had limited fuel and therefore use, people were worried about the rare item making the game unbalanced.
In Fortnite, gaining the high ground and being able to make a quick escape are both really powerful tools in battle. The Jetpack also allows players to survey the land from high up, which made people believe the item was overpowered. This is why there are now concerns from fans about bringing the item back.

Announced yesterday (13 April) via this unassuming tweet on the official Fortnite Twitter page, people have mixed opinions. When the item was brought back in 2019, it was only for a limited time and this was included in the announcement. With no end in sight, people are now questioning whether Jetpacks, just like no build mode, are here to stay.
