Free games roundup: Every free game on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox June 17

Join us for the Free Games Roundup as we go through every free game on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox this week.

Welcome, welcome one and all to your weekly free games roundup. What an action-packed couple of weeks it's been for gaming with the PlayStation Showcase, Summer Game Fest, Ubisoft Forward and Xbox Games Showcase showing us what we can expect over the next couple of months and years.

While many of those new releases are and will be pretty pricey, there are plenty of free games out there for you to nab too so join me as we round up the best freebies available this week. Let’s start with Steam. You can grab 12 delightful indies right now. Those are Ashes to Ashes, Death Roads, Street Sense 2, Grand Emprise, Their Land, Bunker Builder, Cat-aclysm, Exorsite, Force of Nature 2, Bee-Man, Untamed Tactics, and Cosmic Coliseum. From the wild west action-adventure that is Ashes to Ashes, to the nostalgic Mario-esque platformer that is Bee-Man, there’s sure to be something up your alley.

There’s a delightful free demo of Ebenezer and The Invisible World on Steam right now. Take a look at the game in action below.

In terms of multi-platform freebies, Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox users can currently all gain free access to a demo of the upcoming soulslike Lies of P which is set to launch later this year. Likewise, PS5 users can now play through a demo - said to be around two-hours long - of Final Fantasy XVI ahead of its imminent release. At least that way, you can see if it's for you before splashing the cash on the full release.

Speaking of demos, Metroidvania Ebenezer and The Invisible World is available to test out right now on Steam, as is ‘swashbuckling action’ game En Garde which is set to release later this summer. If you’re excited for Assassin’s Creed Codename Jade or Tekken 8, you may want to sign up for the free playtests. Neither playtest has begun but applications are open - they’re quick and easy to complete - and we know that Tekken 8 will begin testing next month, so you wont have long to wait.

PlayStation Plus extra and premium tier subscribers are gaining access to a whopping 28 games this month. This is to celebrate one year of the relaunched PlayStation Plus service. For extra subscribers, those are: Far Cry 6, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, Rogue Legacy 2, Inscryption, Soulstice, Tacoma, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Killing Floor 2, Lonely Mountains: Downhill, Vampire: The Masquerade – Coteries of New York, Hundred Days: Winemaking Simulator, A Hat in Time, Carto, Forager, Dodgeball Academia, Redout 2, Thief, MX vs ATV Legends, PAW Patrol Mighty Pups: Save Adventure Bay!, My Friend Peppa Pig, DC League of Super-Pets: The Adventures of Krypto and Ace, The Talos Principle: Deluxe Edition, Elex 2, and The Wild at Heart.

For premium subscribers, you can access the following as of 20 June: Killzone: Liberation (PSP), Worms (PS1), Herc’s Adventures (PS1), and Coded Soul (PSP).

Ubisoft Plus is offering a seven day free trial this week if you’d like to see if that subscription service is for you. After the seven day free trial, you’ll be charged the monthly subscription fee so do remember to cancel if it’s not for you, but access to all of the Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry games in one place? Sounds great.

Finally, I’ve got to finish up by filling you in on the latest Xbox Games Pass updates. It’s been relatively quiet on that front but this week, Dordogne joined the service - a new narrative adventure. Phew, we made it to the end. Hopefully there’s something there for you to play.
