It’s been quite a time for DC fans over the last year. Last December, it was reported that a number of planned DC shows and movies were being cancelled as part of restructuring efforts to form the new and improved DCU.
Originally reported by The Hollywood Reporter, one of the allegedly cancelled films was Wonder Woman 3, starring Gal Gadot as Diana Prince. However, things became muddy when DC Studios’ co-CEO and co-chairman James Gunn responded to the article, and stated: “As for the story yesterday in The Hollywood Reporter, some of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, and some of it we haven’t decided yet whether it’s true or not.”

More recently, Diana Prince’s fate seemed pretty clear in an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar+), when Gadot revealed that she feels “empowered” to focus on other stories now that the third Wonder Woman film has been cancelled.

“To me, starting and developing stories that I'm passionate about is an incredible thing. The fact that I don't have to sit still at home and just wait for the next offer is something that makes me feel empowered. I enjoy doing it, it keeps me alive,” she said. “I'm not only going to do my own projects, I'm going to work as an actress-for-hire still. But the fact that I can go ahead and tell the stories that I'm passionate about – from ideas that I conceived, or from ideas that I find fascinating from people that want to partner with us – it's an incredible thing.”
You’d think that would be the end of things, but apparently not. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight earlier this week, Gadot hinted that her work on Wonder Woman may not be over yet at all.
“Things are being worked behind the scenes,” Gadot said. “Once the right moment arrives, you'll know about it.”
That's rather vague, but still very intriguing. We’ll just have to watch this space.
