63-Year-Old Sinks 200 Hours Into 'Assassin's Creed Origins', Just Started Second Playthrough

We love to see it.

I've got a lot of love for Assassin's Creed Origins. As someone who never quite gelled with the previous games, I was fully on board with the way Ubisoft reinvented the franchise as a hefty RPG set in Ancient Egypt. Combining my interest of the period with my love of anything even remotely like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was always going to be a winner, right?

But as much as I love Assassin's Creed Origins - and it's a lot - I don't come close to to one 63-year-old gamer who is still sinking dozens upon dozens of hours into the open-world epic. Twitter user Lone Gamer shared a clip of her mum just kicking off her second playthrough of Bayek's not-unsubstantial journey. To be clear, her dear old ma has already put well over 200 hours into the game and earned the platinum trophy - so starting a second run through is a serious demonstration of devotion.

Lone Gamer explained that her mum - who remains unnamed - hasn't played a console game since Mario on the NES. It's not entirely clear what about Assassin's Creed Origins inspired her to pick up a controller again, or if Lone Gamer has pointed her mother in the direction of Assassin's Creed Odyssey or the upcoming Valhalla. Maybe she just really vibes with Ancient Egypt? I get that.

Whatever the case, Lone Gamer is grateful for all the support and love her mum has received so far - gaming is for everyone, after all.

"Thank you for supporting her," she wrote. "This is definitely what gaming is about. It's for everyone! No matter age, race or gender. Truly Gamers United!"

Here's hoping Lone Gamer's mum has an even better time with her second playthrough, and that she finds all manner of secrets and cool things she missed the first time around. That's the magic of an open-world game as big as this one - you're rarely going to see it all in just one playthrough.
