20-Year-Old Henry Cavill Is Almost Unrecognisable In Resurfaced Footage

I don't know what to tell you, sometimes, I really don't. Henry Cavill, star of Justice League and The Witcher (and mega gaming fan), has been around for a while. Indeed, his first acting credit (says Wikipedia) came back in 2001 in the movie Laguna, when he was but a sweet 18 year old. I say sweet, no idea. Maybe he was a monster. But what's certain: his film and TV credits go back a way.

And, sometimes, footage appears of those old roles - or from behind-the-scenes access to them. Which is the case here, as a chit-chat with the Jersey-born Cavill and co-star Joey Fatone (yes, also of NSYNC boyband fame) has popped up on Instagram, making commenters post their we-absolutely-approve feelings. Check it out, below.

The poster, timeneverlieschico, writes that this is from 2003 - when Cavill was 20 years old. The movie he's talking about starring in is the 2006-released Red Riding Hood, a musical in which Cavill plays the Hunter... who is also a pizza delivery boy. I've not seen it, but here's a compilation of clips of him in said film, which I am certain you will enjoy. Disappointingly, there's no singing.

The same clip seen in the Instagram post can also be found on YouTube, in which Cavill says that Red Riding Hood marks a big change from his usual type of work. "It's a nice, light-hearted, relaxed, fun movie," he says of the film, which was directed by Randal Kleiser, best known for 1978's Grease. "It's different from what I usually do. I usually do period pieces, very serious, lots of crying, lots of death, lots of agony."

NGL, he could well be describing Netflix's The Witcher there, right? Death, agony, crying? It all checks out. Cavill returns as the titular Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, in season two of the show, which will be on Netflix any time between October and December 2021. But back to this Red Riding Hood clip, and he's compared to a Disney prince in the comments, his face was apparently "sculpted by gods", and he's "perfect". He's also compared to Dune, Lady Bird and Call me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet, which... sure, I guess we can see.

So yeah, we get it, social media. You fancy him. Fair enough, really.

Cavill adds in the 2003 clip - which appears to have come from Everything Entertainment originally, judging by the watermark - that he'd love to work with Joey Fatone again. So, maybe look out for a cameo when The Witcher does return to our screens later this year. (I mean, don't, it'd be a waste of time, but... it would be funny, wouldn't it?)
