'Fast & Furious 9' Star Wants A Transformers Crossover, Which Makes Sense TBF

'Fast & Furious 9' Star Wants A Transformers Crossover, Which Makes Sense TBF

I really don't care enough about either franchise to think of something clever to say here.

The Fast & Furious franchise has long since abandoned whatever grip on reality it may have once had. What used to be a franchise about a tight-knit family of street racers has since turned into a billion dollar series about assassins, spies, space travel, and whatever the hell else you can think of. I'm not saying it's bad, but that's pretty much where it's at right now.

Given the fact that Fast & Furious has now established it can go anywhere or do anything, its stars have some wild ideas for potential sequels. We'd previously heard that F9 director Justin Lin wanted to do a crossover with the Jurassic World series. Now Tyrese Gibson, who plays Roman Pearce, has revealed the IP he'd love to collide with - and to be fair it makes a bit more sense than anything to do with dinosaurs.

But first, take a look at the latest trailer for F9 below. This series really did leave its mind behind a long, long time ago, and we're here for it:

In a recent interview with ComicBook.com, Gibson revealed he was a little skeptical about having dinosaurs in the Fast franchise. If that's going to happen, he argued, they should definitely do Transformers first.

"I don't know nothing about that, man. I'm thinking that the crossover would be more Transformers X Fast than Jurassic Park," Tyrese said of an IP mashup. "Cars that become robots and vice versa. We can do that at first and then get to dinosaurs."

While I'm certain there are dozens of screenwriters out there who could easily make a Transformers X Fast & Furious movie work, a Jurassic World crossover is currently more likely for one simple reason: the rights. Universal owns both Fast & Furious and Jurassic World, while Paramount handles the Transformers movie franchise. Still, if the two companies could work something out, I imagine there would be a sickening amount of money in some kind of mega crossover that involved Fast & Furious, Transformers, and Jurassic World. Let's live in hope, shall we? Yeah, let's do that.
