A Huge 11,000 Piece LEGO Death Star Is Rumoured For This Year

Rarely is it that we say bigger is surely better here at GAMINGbible. There are an abundance of cases in which that's not true, especially when it comes to games. However there is one area in which we really think it counts. One category where size really matters. LEGO.

That's right, for some reason, the bigger the lego project the more enticed we are by it and, rumours of a huge new LEGO set are making us unreasonably excited about a potential new toy. Reported by German site Promo Bricks, the Death Star is apparently getting another LEGO set. And this one's a whopper.

Of course, we're all familiar with the Death Star - it's possibly the most iconic and memorable space station (or moon?) in the history of cinema, and a large part of what makes the Star Wars franchise so visually recognisable. It's also been made by LEGO not once, not twice, but three times previously - each time a little bigger than the last. In 2005 the Death Star set was 3,449 pieces, in 2008 it was 3,803 pieces, and in 2016 it grew again to 4,016 pieces. And now - because of some online rumours and pricings for the next Star Wars LEGO collection - fans are thinking that the Death Star is due yet another remake, which will raise the brick count up to 11 thousand blocks.

Mind you, this is all speculation - the new Death Star hasn't been announced, though it wasn't too long ago that the company released its biggest ever LEGO set, The Colosseum. The "ultimate Flavian amphitheater" was released last year had consisted of over 9,000 LEGO pieces so we wouldn't be completely surprised if a new Death Star managed to exceed it. I mean what're another 2,000 pieces on top of a replica of one of the most iconic historical monuments anyway?
