It seems that Netflix can't stop winning at the moment when it comes to games. We've all been impressed at the company's interpretation of The Witcher and they've already announced similar treatments for the Assassin's Creed universe as well as Tomb Raider. Now, they've got Sonic the Hedgehog and SEGA on board to host the Blue Blur's next animated adventure.
And now, a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog animated series is coming to Netflix in 2022. An announcement from Netflix has appeared on Twitter where they confirm the rumours that a new Sonic the Hedgehog series is being made and they have already got dibs on distribution.
The tweet reads, "Yes, it's true! SEGA's legendary video game icon Sonic the Hedgehog will star in a new 3D animated series from SEGA, Wild Brain Studio and Man Of Action Ent premiering on Netflix in 2022." And a plain image shows that the name of the series will be Sonic Prime. Exciting huh?

According to a press release on the Wild Brain Studio website, the series will be aimed at kids from the ages of six to eleven but aims to please legacy Sonic fans of any age. The series will be 24-episodes of Sonic content where "where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in his gloved hands. Sonic's adventure is about more than a race to save the universe, it's a journey of self-discovery and redemption." Always the hero, ay Sonic?
Wild Brain Studio and Man of Action are both studios with some massive successes in their repertoire. Wild Brain is the home of brands like Peanuts, Johnny Test and Inspector Gadget while Man of Action created Ben 10, Generator Rex and have worked with Marvel on the Avengers Assemble animated series. These two studios are powerhouses and are obviously going to give this new series their all.
