A New Tony Hawk's Pro Skater Is Coming, According To Pro Skateboarder

Better skate than never.

Is a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater game on the way? According to an increasingly large mountain of evidence, the answer seems to be an emphatic "yes".

Late last year, a well-known leaker claimed that Activision had been sharing a prototype of a new game in the much-loved skater series around its offices. Not long after that, pro-skater Lizzie Armanto seemingly let slip during a podcast that she'd been involved with a new entry. Then, earlier this year, punk band The Death Set claimed to have five of their songs licensed for use in the new game.

As if all of that wasn't enough for you, another pro skater has now come out and seemingly confirmed the existence of a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. In a new interview (via Nibel, see tweet below), Jason Dill claimed that the new entry is coming in 2020, and that he'll have a song on the game's soundtrack. See for yourself below, but be aware of the NSFW language towards the end.

"Did you guys know that there's a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater coming out in 2020?" Dill asks the interviewer. "My song's in it. So I made sure to add my board to the board you could pick, cause I wanted to be in that sh*t too."

The franchise has, sadly, been on ice for some time now. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 released in 2015, but was considered to be an absolute mess of a game (it has a Metacritic score of just 32). Whether Activision will try to release a brand-new entry or remaster an older title in the series remains to be seen, but given the publisher has been teasing more remasters after the success of Crash and Spyro, I'd suspect the latter.

As always, I'd advise we don't get too excited until Activision confirms the existence of this new game. But at this point, I think it'd honestly be more surprising if we weren't getting a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater this year, right?

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to dig out my PlayStation and boot up my copy of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. I've suddenly come over with a real hankering to tear it up around School while dressed as Spider-Man. Man, what a game.
