Innersloth has announced that the popular mobile and PC social deduction game Among Us hit 3.8 million concurrent users last weekend. That's nearly 4 million folks who are well into lying and stabbing their pals in the back. We love to see it.
Among Us actually released way back in June 2018, but for the first two years of its release it didn't find any real success - to the point that servers were sat idle with absolutely no users online. It was only in the last few months that the game saw a huge rise in its player base, going from 271 players in January to 60 million daily active users across iOS, Android, and PC.
One of the developers of Among Us took to Twitter to give fans a breakdown of the increase in player base after the popular streamer Jack 'Courage' Dunlop shared some statistics. According to one of the devs, it was largely thanks to Korean and Brazilian streamers in the early days of its release that helped popularise the space social deduction game.
In its first year of release the maximum users that played the game in a single day were around 25. Following the first wave of success, this number rose all the way up to 1800. Due to the devs not expecting such a huge increase in players, this inevitably led to the game experiencing some server issues... such as frequent outages whenever players would try to play a game together.
Okay, data post!
I found this old graph from before Steam was released.
The second graph is from our first big wave (causing frequent outages/issues like right now). https://t.co/QNSasevy9o pic.twitter.com/vrcJX5UnaM

This was only the first wave of success, however. Among Us is now experiencing a massive second wave, with streamers and influencers playing the game and bringing more and more people on board. This incredible spike in popularity has led to the game being downloaded just under 100 million times and 60 million daily active users across all three platforms.
The developer also revealed that the majority of players are playing Among Us on an Android device, with iOS following in second and then finally PC in third. Of course such a huge increase in players has led to further server issues. Worry not though, as they recently announced that they'll no longer be working on a sequel and will instead be focusing all their efforts to making Among Us the best that it can be.
Alright, so here's a more interesting (I think). pic.twitter.com/jZXjWxtgF6

There's no time frame as of yet on how long it will take to address the current server issues, but if you fancy pretending to be an alien to murder your friends then you can download Among Us on Android, iOS and PC.
