An Official ‘Skyrim’ Board Game Is In The Works

The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim has made it to pretty much every gaming platform I can think of. Port after port, edition after edition, and then mod after mod, there are so many versions of Skyrim readily available these days that it's a a complete meme at this point. But if you're not yet Skyrimmed (yes, it's a word) out, there might be one last version of the game with your name on it. And it's a board game.

A new crowdfunding site has popped up so fans can support the tabletop game however they like. There are very few details about the version so far, practically none, in-fact. All we know is that it's a board game based on an adventure across Skyrim of course, and that it'll be for 1-4 players. That's all the Gamefound website gives away.

For those unaware, Gamefound is a new site designed for crowdfunding tabletop and board games specifically. Kickstarter is full to the brim with board game projects that need funding - many creators showing the board game world their ideas that could never get made without their support. According to Polygon, an almighty one-third of Kickstarter's total annual revenue is made up people funding board and video games.

It seems that Gamefound is trying to create a new home for these projects in particular - adding new features that are lacking on Kickstarter like making alterations to campaigns after they've already ended for example. In the site's own words, it's aim is to be "the bridge between backers and game creators. We create tools for creators to communicate and share ideas with their community".

So, if you're interested in keeping your eye on a Skyrim board game (and maybe even contributing to the project if you feel so inclined) you can see the project page on Gamefound here. Shame it'll probably be here before The Elder Scrolls VI is.
