Marvel's new Captain America, Anthony Mackie has been confirmed to star as John Doe in the live-action Twisted Metal series. The actor, who has been at the centre of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in recent months, now has another nerd-culture role as one of the main cast members in the adaptation of the gaming franchise, currently being developed by Sony.

According to Deadline, Mackie isn't only starring in the series but he will also be an executive producer on the show. John Doe appears in Twisted Metal: Black and Twisted Metal: Lost as a mysterious character. As his name suggests, he does not know who he is or where he came from, but he absolutely knows how to drive.

ICYMI, a brand-new Marvel video game is in development right now at Insomniac: Wolverine...

According to the original report, John Doe will be at the centre of the 30-minutes-per-episode series and, of course, Mackie will probably have a blast with the role. We can't tell how good the series will be yet but hopes are high with the writers of Deadpool and Deadpool 2, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, on the job.

According to Deadline, it seems that the story will follow John Doe as he's promised a better life with one seemingly simple task: deliver a package. What ensues seems to be car thieving, action, destruction and some laughs along the way. On paper, it sounds pretty cool, right? Oh, and be sure to not forget the clown that will be driving an ominous ice cream truck along the way, we can't forget them.

Glenn Adilman, executive vice president of comedy development at Sony Pictures Television, says: "We've been big fans of Anthony's phenomenal body of work over the years and knew he was the only actor who could play a character as complex, funny and compelling as John Doe. Fortunately for us, he agreed." We can't wait to hear more about the show, soon.
