'Apex Legends' Is Getting A Duos Mode Next Week

Apex Legends, the fast-paced battle royale that sees teams of three duke it out across a massive map in an explosive battle to the death is introducing a new limited-time mode in which two will become three. That's right kids, starting November 5, Apex Legends is asking you to team up with your one closest ally and take on the world in a new Duos mode.

Make your excuses to the weakest member of your squad of three now, because you're gonna need to cut them out if you and one other buddy want to make it in the new mode and claim as many victories as possible. If you can't work out which of your mates you want to ditch, they're probably planning to ditch you.

Obviously the core gameplay will remain much the same, but I'm curious to see how much the moment-to-moment action in Apex Legends changes when you can only count on one other player to watch your back. Just you and a mate against the world - I like the sound of it, to be honest.

Like the Solos mode that was released a few months back, Duos will only be available for a limited time - although EA has yet to specify exactly how long it'll be sticking around for. Solos ran between August 13 and August 27, so I'd imagine Duos will similarly run for a couple of weeks.

Hopefully if it's enough of a success, it'll ultimately be added to the game on a more permanent basis, but I'm getting ahead of myself. We have to wait and see if it's actually good first. It probably will be.

"Looking ahead, we are doubling down on live services combined with our core franchises," said EA COO and CFO Blake Jorgensen during a recent earnings call.

"We're investing in games that people play for longer and engage with much more deeply. This focus will continue to drive growth and profitability for the company through the remainder of this year and beyond."
