Asmongold Announces Break From Twitch Following "Terrifying" Fire

Asmongold, one of Twitch's biggest streamers, is taking a break from Twitch after a fire almost took his mother's life. The streamer saved the life of his mum after she had been smoking too close to her oxygen tank - if he had not been there exactly when he was, she would have likely passed away.

As Dexerto reports, Asmongold has uploaded a video of himself talking about "the worst day of [his] life". The streamer talks about how he has recently been struggling with the care of his mother and feeling like he could be doing more to help her. During a stream, he went to give her a drink and then had a moment of stress so ended the broadcast and went to go lie down.

Asmongold then goes to his own room and lies down before hearing a really loud crash from his mother's room. He also saw light coming from the room. The streamer then got up to find out what was going on and found "fire everywhere".

"There's fire everywhere, including on her. I had to put all of that out," he says. "And the fire, there's a little oxygen tube going to the tank, and it's like in a cartoon where the little fire is going to the bomb. And so I was like, 'oh my god', immediately turned off the tank. I was able to stop it from exploding.

"I had to put the fire out on the floor, it was just everywhere and on her. And she couldn't even really speak, I think it had obviously it had knocked the wind out of her because it had knocked her out of her chair."

The streamer then called 911 and the emergency services took over and helped the two to the hospital.

Asmongold is obviously shaken by the whole affair and he's taking a break from streaming to look after himself and his mother. "I wanted to make this video to tell everybody what happened in the most raw way possible. I can't give you guys a timeframe, sorry. Sooner, rather than later, I would say, but when I know I'll give you a date for when I'll be coming back to my main streams. As soon as I know, you'll know too.

"There was a point where I didn't even know whether she was still alive. It was just so scary. Thank you for the positive, uplifting messages. It means so much."
