Wonders never Greece

Ubisoft just dropped a shiny new update for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, available to download right now for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This brand-new and completely free upgrade doesn't do a ton, but it does offer players a great excuse to jump back into Ancient Greece on their new-gen consoles.

"Missing Ancient Greece?" reads a post on the official Assassin's Creed Twitter account. "A new title update for Assassin's Creed Odyssey will be deployed on August 24, adding 60FPS support when running the game on Xbox Series X'S & PlayStation 5 through backwards compatibility!"

Take a good long look at Assassin's Creed Odyssey in all its glory below.

I have to admit that I haven't actually finished Odyssey, mostly because the 2018 game is so ridiculously hefty that any time I start to make decent progress, another game is released that ends up distracting me. I must have returned it at least four times over the past few years, and I'm still only about halfway through the damn thing. I'm not even sure I can remember why my voyage across Greece started in the first place.

Even so, a new-gen update could be just the excuse I need to dive back in. Odyssey is a stunning game after all, and no doubt will look better than ever running at a silky-smooth 60fps on my PlayStation 5. Who knows? I may even finish the game this time. I mean probably not, but it's nice to imagine that one day I will, isn't it?

With any luck Assassin's Creed Origins will get the same treatment before long. I never finished that bastard either, if I'm being honest.
