Assassin's Creed Valhalla will not only offer epic raids and brutal battles, but also opportunities to grow Eivor's settlement with shops, museums, and other new buildings.

These tidbits come from a new interview and presentation from level designer David Bolle, and he emphasised how important the headquarters will be to the story of Valhalla. In the beginning of the game, Eivor and the rest of the Raven clan have been forced to leave their homeland of Norway, and arrive on the sunny shores of England. Story missions will be undertaken from the war table, in the halls of the longhouse, and the settlement will gradually evolve over time.

"It was really important when we designed [the settlement] that it felt exactly like when you come back home after a long journey away-you work in some other places, other regions, other countries, and you come back to your family and some element has changed," explained Bolle. These changes are either initiated by the player, by spending resources to build and upgrade buildings, or they'll appear after Eivor returns from a main mission.

Additionally, the settlement is where the player will learn about the roles that the Hidden Ones and the Order of Ancients (which eventually become the Assassins and the Templars) have to play in Valhalla. Hytham, a Hidden One, will introduce himself to Eivor, and ask them to build a bureau as an alliance between the shadowy group and the Vikings. Like the Cult of Kosmos in Assassin's Creed Odyssey, this building will show you where to identify and hunt down members of the Order, and with every successful elimination, the player earns their medallions. Giving these treasures to Hytham will unlock rewards like Assassin skills weapons, and lore.

"In the settlement, everybody's unique, they all have their name, their house, their job," continued Bolle. "So when you go to the house of someone, you will see them working there and doing their thing, but you can also [see] them talking to each other in the middle of the settlement and stuff. They all have their own agendas. And they are also parts of main quests tied to the settlement." Also, players will be able to add a seer's house (who offers you the ability to relive the life of Odin), the stables (where they can customize their horse and raven and also improve their horse's attributes), a museum (where Roman artefacts will be displayed), and even a cemetery (self-explanatory, really).

Eivor's journey will chart courses across England, and into new realms like Asgard and Jotunheim. Recently revealed is the fact that the game's DLCs will take place in Ireland and France, and the core story will see Eivor shake hands with the people of Vinland (also known as North America). Assassin's Creed Valhalla comes to Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PC and Stadia on November 10th, with the PS5 version arriving on November 12th.
