'Assassin's Creed Valhalla' Update Introducing Weapon Players Have Asked For Since Day One

We wonder if that includes dual-wielding abilities?

Though you might expect it in an action-adventure game set in medieval England, Assassin's Creed Valhalla didn't have any one-handed swords. That's right, although you see all sorts of weapons, blades, and hammers in the action RPG, a sword that you can use with just one hand wasn't present in the entire game at its launch. But that's about to change.

PSU reports that finally, finally, Assassin's Creed Valhalla is going to get a one-handed option for players that want it. In the game's next update, we'll be able to throw our weight around England and Ireland in a whole new way after Ubisoft has hinted at the addition.

We've really enjoyed Assassin's Creed Valhalla for many reasons, but one of the biggest is this incredible mount...

On Twitter, the developers teased the update and the new weapon category with a good old meme. According to the original report, Ubisoft has been teasing the addition of one-handed swords for a while now, but went quiet on when they would be arriving. And well, this meme is surely confirmation that we're not going to be waiting much longer.

The update will likely go live next week as the game files have been spotted by Twitter account PlayStation Game Size. The account follows what is being uploaded to Sony servers - and now that an update has been spotted, we'll likely seeing the new content in the game within the next week or so.

So it looks like now's a good time to jump back into Valhalla if you're not done with it yet. There are new cosmetics in the game including old assassin's gear, and the Wrath of the Druids update went down a treat with players. And related, we recently heard about Assassin's Creed Infinity, the next large step in the game's evolution Ubisoft is already working on.
