'Batman: Arkham Legacy' Is The Next Batman Game, Claims Leaker

Holy leaks, Batman.

At this point I think we're all pretty much convinced that Warner Bros Montreal, the developer behind Batman: Arkham Origins, is very much working on a new entry in the franchise. Lord knows the studio has teased it often enough over the past year or so.

Unfortunately, while there's plenty we think we know, there's very little that we know for sure. The good news is that we've had a potential break in the case from a previously reliable leaker, who claims that the new Batman game is called Batman: Arkham Legacy, and will feature a cast of playable characters beyond Bruce Wayne himself.

Twitter user @New_WabiSabi, previously correctly called a whole bunch of E3 2019 rumours, and has even allegedly been threatened with legal action over their leaks before now.

Undeterred by this, they recently shared the supposed name of the new Batman game, along with the news that Arkham Legacy will give players the chance to play as the whole Bat-Family, which typically includes at least Robin, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Red Hood. They went on to suggest that each character will have their own unique abilities, skills, costumes, and upgrades to unlock - not unlike Marvel's Avengers.

That's all our leaky friend has to share with us, but it's more than we're getting from WB Montreal, to be fair. Back in September, the studio posted a string of mysterious "Capture The Knight" teasers on Twitter, leading many to believe that an announcement for the new Batman game was imminent.

Alas, weeks went by and we didn't see so much as a pointy-eared cowl - but this is far from the first time we've had cause to believe that WB Montreal is working on a new Batman game.

The existence of a new game from the Arkham Origins studio was first alluded to in late 2018, when WB Montreal Assistant Producer Valerie Vezina posted a picture of a T-shirt adorned with a logo that looked very much like the insignia of The Court of Owls, a shadowy organisation who have given Batman a fair bit of grief over the years.

Fans then became all but convinced that the next Batman game would star the Court of Owls when, last month, Batman writer and Court of Owls creator Scott Snyder retweeted one of WB Montreal's teases with the hashtag #bewarethecourtofowls, and "wait for it."

Synder subsequently deleted the tweet, which implies he might have said something he wasn't supposed to say. At this point, there can't be anyone left who'll be too surprised when WB Montreal finally announces this game, so let's hope they do it soon.
