Well, there it is. DICE and EA have confirmed that the long-awaited Battlefield 2042 open beta will kick off October 8 and run until October 9. Early access (that's those of you who have pre-ordered the game or are EA Play members) will start on October 6 and run until October 9.

Ever since the game was announced earlier this year, fans have been clamouring to get their hands on Battlefield 2042. It's not hard to see why. The upcoming shooter from DICE and EA looks like a genuinely exciting evolution of the classic FPS franchise, one that could well take it to new heights.

The good news is that we now have a very strong idea of when, exactly, you'll get to check out the game for yourself. DICE has yet to announce anything official in regards to the game's beta period, but a recent leak paired with a report from the game's most reliable leaker all but confirms that it's coming very soon.

Tom Henderson, who has managed to accurately leak pretty much everything to do with Battlefield 2042 over the past year, believes that the beta period will kick off on October 6. That's next Wednesday. Henderson spotted a streaming schedule from Bilibili that started they'd be streaming Battlefield 2042 from October 6 to October 9, though Henderson stressed the beta will last longer than three days.

With these dates now out in the wild, it's only a matter of time before DICE and EA confirm the exact timings for each platform. We're assuming there'll be a staggered approach for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, as well as a chance to check out cross-platform play in action. We'll find out soon enough.

Battlefield 2042 was initially supposed to launch on October 22. DICE confirmed a brief delay earlier this month to ensure the game is up to scratch, and it will now launch on all platforms November 19. Plenty of time for the beta to iron out any remaining creases.
