Well, it looks like the rumours were true. The first screenshots of Battlefield 6 appear to have surfaced online, and they've confirmed an awful lot of what prolific leaker and alleged industry insider Tom Henderson has been saying for months.

Two images of the upcoming shooter found their way onto social media over the weekend. The first is a wide shot of a tropical island with a storm rolling in, and looks an awful lot like the sketch Henderson shared just a few weeks ago. At the time, Henderson suggested that this shot would be used as part of Battlefield 6's reveal trailer.

Since you're here and clearly enjoy first-person shooters, why not take a look at our Call Of Duty 'Wins And Fails' video below?

The second image appears to show a missile being readied for launch, along with a decidedly futuristic looking HUD. This would appear to confirm the many claims that Battlefield 6 will be set in the near future (around 2030-2040). Henderson took to Twitter to confirm that the images were the real deal, and that EA and DICE have an official reveal planned very, very soon.

Take a look at the images for yourself below.

Henderson later added on Twitter that he believes the screens were captured via Zoom (explaining the low quality) and taken from the upcoming trailer. He finished by assuring fans that we're "not long away now" from seeing the real thing.

"We're in daily playtesting mode right now," DICE said of Battlefield 6 in a blog post last week. "Polishing, balancing, and making the best possible Battlefield game we can. I can tell you it is a bold step.

"It has everything we love about Battlefield - and takes all of it to the next level. Epic scale. All-out military warfare. Crazy, unexpected moments. Game-changing destruction. Massive battles, packed with more players and mayhem than ever before. All brought to life with the power of next-gen consoles and PCs. Get ready for our reveal soon."
