Ultimate Gamer, the only multi-genre esports proving ground in the world, has announced its "Best Gamer On Earth" competition, and anyone (literally, anyone) is in for a shot at winning its incredible $1 million prize pool.

The Ultimate Gamer Worldwide Open officially begins on March 1st, but we'll give you the skinny so you'll be able to get ahead of the game. "Ultimate Gamer is on a mission to build the world's largest community of gamers while providing a fun environment to compete with friends and family, see where one ranks in the community, and try out a title outside of one's regular gameplay," read the press release.

For those in the United States, interested parties will be able to compete in the Regional Invitational in a maximum of eight different titles; among them are NBA 2K21, Tekken, League of Legends, FIFA 21, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Madden. There are two yet to be announced titles and one wildcard challenge for contenders to prove themselves, too.

Outperform your opponents in your chosen game and reign supreme in the Regional Finals, and you'll be one of the 200 competitors who are off to the National Invitationals. "Each player's ranking in each game will be added together and then divided by the total number of games to calculate the final score," continued the press release from Ultimate Gamer. "All two hundred players will walk away with a portion of the prize pool, with the winner taking home $300,000 and the runner-up winning $150,000."

It is a unique competition, as the majority of esports events are tailored toward only one game and attract players who spend countless hours and learn reams and reams of strategy. To be the "Best Gamer On Earth" isn't necessarily to show dedication on this scale, and players of titles that aren't in the mainstream could be encouraged to try something new in 2021. Plus, I'm holding out hope that the wildcard challenge is a game like Human Fall Flat, Getting Over It With Bennet Foddy, or Totemori, to balance out the necessity for a cool head and a steady hand in the other titles.

"At Ultimate Gamer, it's our mission to give everyday gamers who are normally not supported a place to test their skills in a variety of titles, play against gamers from all over the world, and celebrate gaming on the largest scale possible," said CEO Steve Suarez. "I'm proud to be building one of the world's largest and most inclusive gaming communities, completely agnostic of whether you play on PC, console, or mobile, or whether you like sports, MOBA, Fighting, or FPS games."
