A New Fallout RPG Is Out Now, And It Looks Fantastic

This sounds too good to be true.

If you've been hankering for a new Fallout experience, then the news that Fallout: The Roleplaying Game has now received a digital edition will be just the ticket.

Eking out an existence in an environment populated by hostile beasts, cobbling together tools from the rusted remnants of the old world, with nary a soul to accompany you on this lonesome journey. That could have been a description of the events of 2020 or it could have been a description of Fallout 76. I'll leave it to you to work out which. Even though the game has remedied a lot of the issues that plagued the experience at the start, Fallout fans certainly see the earlier entries in the series through rose-tinted glasses when compared to how the apocalyptic RPG has evolved.

A community survey concluded that Fallout: New Vegas is the best of the bunch, with story, RPG elements, radio and ambient music and DLC that new entries should aim to emulate. So, if this approach could be adopted into this brilliant single-player DLC-sized mod for Fallout 4, then Fallout: London could really knock it out of the park.

Check out the trailer below, featuring a band of post-apocalyptic knights of the round table. Yes, really.

So, now that things are starting to open up with the rollout of the vaccines, you might be interested in playing Fallout: The Roleplaying Game with your pals. Publisher Modiphius Entertainment has changed the traditional workings of its in-house tabletop 2d20 game engine to accommodate the world of Fallout, and so it includes SPECIAL traits, Perks, locations and creatures that players will be familiar with.

Furthermore, players are able to start their adventures as a Vault Dweller, Wasteland Survivor, Brotherhood of Steel Initiate, Ghoul, Super Mutant or even Dogmeat. A video game version of Fallout where we're able to select from a number of walks of life like this is an enticing idea, to be honest. And, if the prospect of immersing yourself in this 438-page rulebook is a little daunting, there's an introductory story titled "With a Bang or a Whimper" for new players.

Pre-orders are live now and the Table Bundle gets you the rulebook, a gamemaster toolkit, custom dice, Nuka Cola caps and more for £189. There's also the enviable G.E.C.K. Special Edition which is a limited edition, though I reckon most will settle for the Player Bundle that gets you the rulebook and custom dice for £43.
