We Know What BioShock's Big Daddy Looks Like With No Helmet And Oh God

BioShock is a pretty scary game at the best of times. The underwater city of Rapture is a crumbling ruin filled with horrors, few of which are quite as fearsome as the Big Daddy.

Aptly described by Andrew Ryan himself as a "lumbering palooka in a foul-selling diving suit," Big Daddies are a force to be reckoned with. Those who have played the game will know these behemoths are in fact genetically enhanced human beings whose skin and organs have been grafted onto and encased within massive diving suits.

If you like BioShock, maybe you'll enjoy this look at Atomic Heart in action below?

While we never see what's underneath the helmet of a Big Daddy at any point in BioShock, I can't imagine any of us assumed it would be a pretty sight. They are, after all, victims of brutally unethical and invasive surgical procedures. My assumption was that whatever was under there sure as hell didn't look human anymore.

Turns out I was right. As you can see below, Andy Kelly recently dug up an old piece of BioShock concept art from Robb Waters that details the visage underneath the helmet of every Big Daddy, and... well, now I want to wash my eyes out with bleach.

I only really have one question, and that is what on Earth is wrong with you Robb Waters? How did you come up with something so genuinely stomach churning? It looks like a half-eaten Mr Blobby ice cream that's been left out in the sun. It looks like somebody took off Deadpool's mask and stomped on his face as hard as they could. It looks like a scrotum that has been possessed by a malign entity. It looks... well, you get the idea. It looks nasty.

I'm just thankful we never actually saw this freakish abomination in the game.
