Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is bringing a new kind of superpowered protagonist to the DC Extended Universe in 2022 with Black Adam. Johnson will play the titular antihero, and it's pretty clear he thinks his impending debut will change the DCEU forever.

"As we all know, superheroes have a code of justice and don't kill the bad guys," Johnson teased earlier this week. "But, Black Adam does. The hierarchy of power in the DC UNIVERSE is changing. Antihero. Man in black. Protector of his people."

In the comic books, Black Adam has always been one of the more powerful DC heroes (or villain, depending on what day of the week it is). As such, it's often fascinating to see him throw down with other heavy-hitters because it can so often go either way. While we're unlikely to see Black Adam tussle with Superman on the big screen anytime soon, one artist has imagined what a showdown between Henry Cavill's Man Of Steel and Johnson's Man in black might look like.

Instagram artist datrintiart cleverly took the recently released set photo of Johnson in his Black Adam costume, and added an imposing-looking Superman into the scene. The result is more than enough to make me wish we actually got to see this showdown in Black Adam, but with Cavill's future as Superman currently up in the air, who knows if this particular encounter will ever make it to the DCEU?

The good news is that we will get to see Black Adam put to the test when he faces off with the Justice Society Of America, a team of DC superheroes that came years before the Justice League arrived on the scene. It's understood that Black Adam will serve as the big screen debut of this classic team, whose members include Hawkman, and Cyclone, and Doctor Fate.

Will these three powerful heroes be a match for Black Adam? Probably not in his own movie, no.
