Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will support cross-gen and cross-platform play, Activision has confirmed. Following on from 2019's Modern Warfare, the publisher is looking to continue "bringing the community together" by allowing players to jump in and party up with friends, regardless of the platform they're playing on.

That means those of you who pick up Black Ops Cold War on your shiny new PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X will still be able to enjoy the game with any friends who've yet to make the upgrade. Given that the new game will be launching on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC (phew), that's very reassuring news to hear.

Activision has also revealed that Black Ops Cold War will feature a Battle Pass system, much like the one seen in Modern Warfare and Warzone. Fans can expect "a steady stream of free post-launch content, including Multiplayer maps and modes, along with a robust schedule of in-game community events".

Hopefully Black Ops Cold War follows in the footsteps of Modern Warfare and brings back fan-favourite maps every now and again to mix in with the newer arenas. I'd love to see classic Nuketown make a comeback.

Finally, it was confirmed that Black Ops Cold War will feature a "unified progression" with Warzone. Essentially, any achievements and items earned in one game can be used in the other. Both games will also "share post-launch content from a narrative standpoint, interweaving the themes, locations, weapons, and vehicles of Black Ops Cold War into the Warzone action."

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches on November 13th. Based on the multiplayer gameplay we've seen so far, it looks like Treyarch and Raven Software have done a great job of bringing back some of the more classic Call Of Duty elements, while also keeping some of the smarter changes that Infinity Ward introduced in Modern Warfare.
