'Black Ops Cold War' Glitch Lets Players Control The Weather, Magically

And the zombie eye glow is broken too

If you're anything like me, your first thought when reading a headline that headline might be "what do you mean, control the weather?" And yes, hilariously, players are reporting a glitch in Black Ops Cold War that is allowing players to control clouds in the game using scopes. Something has gone wrong to allow players to manipulate cloud visuals, as well as certain other effects in the game.

As reported by CharlieIntel, users on Reddit have been sharing their experiences of having clouds attached to their gun movements and although momentarily funny, it's a pretty annoying, and even distracting glitch after a while.

On the Black Ops Cold War subreddit one user, MrBigBeans69 has shared a video of the clouds moving in time with looking down the scope. It's a really bizarre link between the two objects. As the player raises the gun to look down the scope the clouds shrink away, getting smaller. As the gun is lowered, the clouds return to their ordinary size.

Treyarch has responded to the glitch on the subreddit already, even linking to a note on business organisation tool Trello. On its board, it says, "Xbox: FXs may be misaligned on FOVs higher than 80. Players may see misaligned, smoke, zombie eye glow, and uranium glows when their FOV is set higher than 80 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X." Interesting. It's an issue with effects, then - something is breaking with several visual assets but it doesn't seem to be something that effects physical gameplay.

So perhaps this is something to look out for on your own Black Op Cold War games in the future if you're also messing with your field of view. As Treyarch has said though, the team is investigating it so hopefully, this will be patched in no time.
