Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has finally, officially been revealed by Activision alongside a host of new details about the upcoming game. These details include what next-gen benefits early adopters can expect from the title.
It's been confirmed that Black Ops Cold War - a sequel to the much-loved original game, and not a reboot as many thought - will release day one as a launch title for the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X, following its release date of November 13th.
Between now and launch day, fans can look forward to more information about the game and how it's going to work on next-gen from developers Treyarch, but for now we do have a brief statement that gives us some idea of what to expect.

The Call Of Duty website states that fans will experience higher frame rates, hardware-based ray-tracing and much shorter load times thanks to the next-gen SSD capabilities. That's on top of cross-play, cross-progression and cross-generation capabilities.

Poking around on the PlayStation pre-order page, it looks like the standard edition of the game will cost £59.99, with your digital copy being compatible with both the PS4 and PS5. This is obviously good news for anybody looking to upgrade to a next-gen console when they finally land later this year.

This price point is actually a little cheaper than other confirmed next-gen games, too. For example, NBA 2K21 is confirmed to retail at around £64.99 ($69.99) an overall £5 increase on games of the current-gen.
PlayStation boss Shawn Layden noted that "It's been $59.99 since I started in this business, but the cost of games have gone up ten times. If you don't have elasticity on the price-point, but you have huge volatility on the cost line, the model becomes more difficult. I think this generation is going to see those two imperatives collide."
