‘Black Ops Cold War’ Players Already Asking For These Changes To Weapons And Maps

Weapon XP and map variety are a problem for some players

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has a tough job to do. It's the first COD game to come out since Warzone which players have loved, which was built into Call of Duty: Modern Warfare which has been a wildly successful entry into Activision Blizzard's franchise. While we've all be dealing with being stuck inside during the pandemic, people played COD. People played a lot of COD.

Now Cold War is out, there are some issues that players want fixed as soon as possible - namely weapons and maps. First, let's start with the number of maps that Cold War has, and why players aren't happy with how low it is.

Eight maps at launch isn't a terrible number, it's better than Valorant having just three, for example, but it's not what players expected when jumping into the game. According to PushSquare, Black Ops 4 had 14 maps at launch and Modern Warfare had 12. When you're playing a lot of the same modes for hours and hours, maps can begin to feel samey pretty quickly, so fans on Resetera are a little disappointed with the lack of variety. No doubt the development team will add new arenas in as the game goes.

The other big topic amongst players online are the weapon upgrade requirements, and how high they are. Spotted by VG247, the COD subreddit has threads of people complaining about how much XP it takes to grind weapons in the game. In particular, this Reddit thread has examples of players killing hundreds of other players for pretty little XP. Many expect this is the case because multiplayer doesn't have as many guns, so XP to level them is higher to keep players interested in the weapons for longer.

New games are never to everyone's liking so of course there are going to be complaints from fans that expected different results. Fortunately, there is time for the team at Treyarch to make some changes if fans request them - one of the advantages of live games.
