'Black Ops Cold War' Players Think Snipers Are Ruining Everything

'Black Ops Cold War' Players Think Snipers Are Ruining Everything

It’s a sight to behold.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War sniper rifles are highly effective, and that's a problem for the game's multiplayer matches in the beta.

The series has always struggled with its snipers, but one would have hoped that the latest entry would have laid that to rest. Anyway, the Pelington 703 and the LW3-Tundra are spoiling the fun for the rest of the players that weren't lucky enough to get their mitts on them at the start of the match. These guns, combined with the new ability to collect all of the attachments, means that they're sparking upset in modes like Dirty Bomb, Assault, Domination, Hardpoint, and Control.

These modes have additional objectives, alongside surviving and being generally good at shooting. However, players are finding that those with the sniper rifles are chasing glory by killing the other players, and leaving controlling the zone or accumulating points by the wayside. Sat in a comfy cover position, even those who got the sniper rifles know that something's up.

"Without a doubt, snipers are the most overpowered weapons in the beta. This is not a rant, at all. I love sniping. But this gets out of hand lmao," said Reddit user xJesseD. "Oh its ridiculous, minimal kick, next to no bullet drop of, as easy to run and gun as it is with a pistol. No wonder the majority of people stopped attempting the mission objectives instead choosing to just sit at the back of the map racking up the kill," added another player.

On the other hand, a portion of players are saying that there isn't an issue with the weapons, and those who use snipers are just very good. Those who have jumped into the beta are, more often than not, hardcore Call of Duty players, and as a result, they know how to use the guns to greatest effect. "I'll agree that some CoDs over the years included snipers that were easier to use than others. Although I don't think that's the case for Cold War," offered one player. "I find it crazy that nobody has a similar complaint to this about the M16. That rifle one-shots people more consistently than my LW3 or Pellington does." Be that as it may, being good with a gun doesn't mean you lose the ability to pick up dog tags.

Funnily enough, the only mode where the snipers are slightly advantageous is Team Deathmatch, purely because the goal is to eliminate the opposing team as effectively as possible. It appears that everyone will have their own opinion on whether or not the beta was balanced, but the silver lining is that Treyarch got a lot of feedback to work with.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S on November 13th. It will also arrive with a Zombies mode, boasting cross-gen and cross-platform multiplayer in the goriest rendition yet of the series staple.
