Black Panther Arrives In 'Marvel's Avengers' War For Wakanda DLC

You are in Wakanda now. You will have nothing but dust and blood.

Were you starting to get a big concerned about the future of Marvel's Avengers and the fact that the only two new characters so far have both been archers? I'm right there with you, my friends. Fortunately, it looks like the legendary Black Panther is joining the divisive superhero game later this year as part of the War For Wakanda expansion.

"Bow before the king," reads the reveal trailer's description. "Black Panther and the War For Wakanda are coming to Marvel's Avengers along with Klaw, the Wakandan Jungle Biome, new enemies, and much more."

Check out the trailer for yourself below. I went sour on Marvel's Avengers not long after the credits rolled on the campaign, but this? Yeah, this might just be the thing to bring me back into the fold.

War For Wakanda doesn't have an exact release date just yet, but it sure does look like a substantial story update with plenty for fans to seek their teeth into. The villainous Dr. Monica Rappaccini makes her return in an effort claim Vibranium from Wakanda. This, of course, sets her squarely in the sights of King T'Challa himself, and chaos ensues.

Wakanda itself looks absolutely beautiful, by the way, clearly taking more inspiration from the Black Panther comic books than the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new environments include jungles peppered with ancient ruins and high tech cities with skyscrapers reaching high into the sky. The Black Panther suit is also a feast for the eyes, and I can't wait to see what fun alternative skins Crystal Dynamics has cooked up for the Wakandan king.

Marvel's Avengers first teased the Black Panther DLC back in 2020, but Square Enix chose to delay the full reveal out of respect for Chadwick Boseman, who tragically passed away last August. If War For Wakanda can carry on the Black Panther legacy even half as well as Boseman's MCU solo film, then we're in for something truly special.
