'Bloodborne' Fans Return To Game En Masse To Celebrate Game's Seventh Anniversary

Yesterday was a very important day within the gaming community. Well, more specifically, for FromSoftware fans and all masochistic gamers who enjoy playing titles which will see them repeatedly smashing themselves into big scary bosses until it works. ...There's a lot of crossover between those two categories.

But yes, in case you missed it, the excellent PlayStation exclusive Bloodborne turned seven years old yesterday, 24 March. The brutally difficult title saw players adventure through the gothic, Victorian-inspired city of Yharnam, and despite now being old enough to play Minecraft if it was sentient (going by PEGI ratings, that is), the 2015 release still has a hold on the fanbase's hearts.

As is tradition at this point, the annual Bloodborne community event, Return to Yharnam, has also got underway in celebration of the anniversary. As reported by Destructoid, it's being hosted by the community Discord, and will run until 7 April. The whole idea is to get people back into the game and talking about it online, and although people can play however they want to during the event, there are a few things that the organisers are suggesting that players could try.

Despite its popularity, we're still yet to see any follow-up to Bloodborne. That said, last October, rumours began circulating that a sequel is in the works, although it apparently won't be developed by FromSoftware. Reportedly, Bluepoint Games are working on a PS5 remaster as well as a completely original sequel - in case you forgot, that's the same team behind the highly acclaimed 2020 title, Demon's Souls. So, if it's true, it's certainly promising, but definitely take it with a pinch of salt until we hear anything official.
