In this day and age pretty much everything has its own theme park or dedicated land. Harry Potter, Star Wars, even Nintendo is getting its very own park next year. With such an increase in them park-related activity, it's about time that Gearbox's popular loot-shooter franchise Borderlands got in on the action. At least, that's what the Creative Director of Borderlands 3 seems to think, which is good enough for me to start building the park in my head.
Speaking to VG247, Gearbox's Paul Sage revealed that the team behind the upcoming Borderlands 3 has some pretty grand ambitions for evolving the franchise beyond video games and into wider media - specifically an anime series and theme park. I'm sold on both ideas already, but only if we can call theme park Borderlands Land.
"We were talking the other day about, would it be a good, almost like an anime type thing?" Sage said when asked about expanding the franchise. "You know, somebody brought up 'Love, Death & Robots' to me, and I was like, oh hell yeah! That'd be a lot of fun. I'd love to see things like that, honestly."
Obviously, this isn't exactly confirmation that we're definitely getting a Borderlands anime series in the near-future, but this is a strong first step on the road to making that delicious dream a reality. "We'll see what the future holds," Sage mused. "I mean, hopefully, people love the game. And hopefully, they love all the source material and they want to do that."

When asked about the possibility of a Borderlands theme park by VG247, Sage was incredibly enthusiastic about the idea and immediately began pitching rides, including "Claptrap's Cave" and a log ride of some sort. "The nice thing about log flumes is that there are no stairs, so it's totally Claptrap-compatible," he joked.
While we wait patiently for the Borderlands theme park and anime series to materialise, we can look forward to the movie adaptation is currently in development. We still don't know whether it's live-action or animated, but we do know that the movie is that it's being handled by Lionsgate and will reportedly feature an entirely original female protagonist.
It's early days for the movie so obviously there hasn't been any word on casting either, but a few months back Sage revealed that his dream casting for Claptrap would be none other than Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Whether or not he was joking, I back it.
