The new Charizard artwork in the newest release of The Pokémon Trading Card Game is nothing short of amazing. Seriously, bask in its gloriousness if you need to before we move onto learning more about the Shining Fates release.

The Sword & Shield 4.5 Special Set, Shining Fates boasts over 190 cards in total, of which over 100 are Shiny and over 30 are Pokémon V and Pokémon VMAX. Doing the maths, that means that a Shiny Gigantamax Charizard is present within this set, though the likelihood of pulling the card is very low. That's why we're all here though, isn't it? To experience the rush of spying the sheen on a card, to delight in the player's exhilaration when they realise they're one of the luckiest fans in the world. That and the money, too.

Leonhart, a content creator who specialises in collectible Pokémon cards, was given a Shining Fates pack by The Pokémon Company ahead of its premiere on February 19th. Of course, all cards are equal and some are more equal than others, but Leonhart opens every pack with identical enthusiasm which is infectious. In his video about Shining Fates, he pulls a Morpeko VMAX which looks incredible, and the Reshiram Amazing Rare is gorgeous. Not only will Reshiram be available, there will be Amazing Rares featuring Kyogre, Yveltal, Zarude, Celebi, and Manaphy. I also have a soft spot for Alcremie and Dhelmise (the vibes are diametrically opposed, I know), and the artwork for the VMAX versions of these 'mons are wonderful.

Fortunately, the fates were aligned, and Leonhart pulled a Shiny Gigantamax Charizard card, and words cannot express how incredible it looks. But, I will do my best to give this card the praise it deserves. Gigantamax Charizard is already a sight to behold, and their body towers over the majority of the card. The contrast of the dark scales and the glittering foil is amazing, and if any Pokémon card should be honoured in a museum, then it's this one. I really wish I was being over the top here, but you've simply got to soak in its splendour if you haven't yet.

As aforementioned, there's not long left to wait until Shining Fates is released. Of course, there's a rumour that TPTCG cards will return to McDonald's Happy Meals, and that might arrive sooner than we think. In the meantime, The Pokémon Company has hinted at "cool collectibles" and songs from some of the "biggest names in music" to celebrate the anniversary, so watch this space for more.
