While there's certainly no shortage of Call Of Duty 2020 rumours circulating the internet at this point, a new batch being cooked up certainly have created a lot of interest. Mixing in what's been happening in Call Of Duty: Warzone's recent updates and Easter eggs, with a few logical next steps, we've somehow arrived at the JFK assassination. How? Let's find out.
First up, it's pretty much universally accepted that the next Call Of Duty game is going to be a return to the Cold War era, with many believing that the game will be a Black Ops reboot. While the Cold War part of these assumptions might be correct, it's likely that the game would be Black Ops in name only, with key story and character developments skewing away from their much-loved and established paths.
Well renowned Call Of Duty insider and leaker (which is a description I bet a lot of fans wish they had) TheGamingRevolution has taken to Twitter to share their interesting idea on the game's storyline. This theory seems to tie together the assassination of John F Kennedy by Black Ops protagonist Alex Mason (hinted as established lore) with the idea of an alternate timeline in which he doesn't.
Now there's a few things we need to unpack here. First, is that the game's codename of Operation Zeus, and the book Counsel Of Zeus are not canonically tied in any way that we know of. The two having something to do with Call Of Duty 2020 could very much be a wild coincidence. Zeus is a popular figure after all, his name gets about a bit.

But let's assume for a hot second that the book's alternate timeline of a world in which JFK wasn't assassinated is true. That could lead to a whole new world of possibilities in which devs Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games could explore.
It would also expand on the idea of a Call Of Duty multiverse, giving future devs free-reign to re-imagine the classic COD storylines we know and love ad-infinitum, with new ideas and fates for characters, much like we saw in Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2019.
As always, take these rumours with a heaping great spoon of salt. As much as we love to speculate, we truly know very little about Call Of Duty 2020 at the moment. Guessing wildly and pulling at threads of information will only serve to either get your hopes up, or spoil everything for yourself months in advance. So maybe let's just wait patiently and see.
