'Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War' Bug Is Stealing Player XP

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War players have been stung with a brand new bug which wipes away experience points gained on weapons during games, adding credence to the theory that levelling is very slow in the game.

Developer Treyarch has tweaked the experience point rate gain of the game a number of times, and its latest patch increased the rate yet again. The team assured that "additional tuning changes to global Weapon XP earn rates across the board" would "unlock more attachments faster than the previous standard rate in both MP and Zombies". In addition, the Black Ops Cold War community have enjoyed double experience point weekends since the game launched in November, but it still sort of seemed that progress with weapons was a lot slower than other games in the series.

Now, it has turned out that there's a bug which erases any headway that players make with weapons in matches. Reddit user Difficult-Rest8524 showed what happens if you've been subjected to this odd glitch with a game of Zombies in the Die Maschine map. They check the experience points gained on their pistol, which is very close to levelling up. They continue playing, mowing down hordes and hordes of the undead, and then check how much further they have to go for a new level. Somehow, the number of experience points gained with the pistol have been reversed.

They've only got about two-thirds of the experience points that they need to level up, rather than closing in on the new level. This is totally anomalous, and with other players corroborating Difficult-Rest8524's story, it looks like Treyarch has a problem on their hands. "I played a game of zombies once where I leveled up 4-5 times, and I saw the rank 46 pop up near the end of the game but when I finished I was only level 45," said ZeroDying in the replies to the post. "Same. I've also watched camos unlock multiple times now, only for them to once again be locked when I get back on later," added Revoltte.

I'm sure I don't need to explicate why this would rub players up the wrong way. Expanding the range of attachments available allows them to get the edge in combat, and while other players climb the ranks without this glitch affecting their gameplay, they will feel like they're being left behind. Fingers crossed that Treyarch hears the Black Ops Cold War community's complaints, and is able to address the bug promptly.
