Two sides to every story.

Activision has unveiled the cover art for Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War ahead of the game's full reveal next week. Our first real look at the game, which was finally officially confirmed earlier this week, is a surprising departure from the usual dark and gritty aesthetic we're used to from the Black Ops series.

That's not to say it isn't pretty damn cool. I'm all for Activision adding some colour to the grey shooter for once. As you can see below, the key art is made up of both American and Russian propaganda posters, with a Soviet and American solider split down the middle of the image. I'm very much into it, and it seems the vast majority of you are too.

As others have pointed out, the split down the middle of the image suggests that we'll experience the titular Cold War conflict from both sides - Soviet and American. 2019's Modern Warfare made some attempts to portray all aspects of the conflict, although not always entirely successfully. Still, it's great that developers Treyarch and Raven Software look to be continuing down this road, rather than give us another predictable story in which the Americans blow shit up and heroically save the day.

Very little is known about Black Ops Cold War at this stage, other than that it's definitely still coming this year and has a title that's clearly far too long. Activision will be lifting the lid on the game next week, but rumours suggest we can expect to see a single-player campaign, a detailed zombies mode, and a multiplayer that strips away some of the things fans didn't enjoy about Modern Warfare. They had my curiosity, but now they have my attention.
