A new report has suggested that Call Of Duty 2020 will be called Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, a title that just rolls off the tongue.

Reliable Call Of Duty leaker Okami first posted a crude picture of the original Black Ops cover art, with "Cold War" written underneath. Eurogamer has since confirmed with its own sources that this is, indeed, the name of the upcoming game.

Previous reports suggested that Treyarch was developing Call Of Duty 2020, and that it would be a Black Ops reboot of sorts. It certainly looks as if this is the case - but do take all of this with a pinch of salt until we hear something official from Activision, who according to Eurogamer have so far declined to comment on this news/leak.

According to Eurogamer, Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will take the franchise back to the 1960s. This is something the original Black Ops did before sequels insisted on taking us further into the future. It's being compared to 2019's Modern Warfare, in that it's effectively a gritty reboot of one of the more popular Call Of Duty series.

Even before this news surfaced, fans probably wouldn't have been too shocked to learn the identity of the next Call Of Duty. Just recently, Warzone players discovered multiple references to Black Ops in the battle royale, suggesting that some kind of reveal is imminent.

Players first noticed a message hidden away at the bottom of the patch notes for the latest update, which looked like a reference to the numbers station from the first Black Ops. Dataminers then managed to find a U-2 plane hidden in the files of the battle royale. For those who might not be aware, this kind of US military aircraft was predominately used during the Cold War.

All of this lines up nicely with the idea that Call Of Duty 2020 is taking us back to the Cold War. We've also heard rumblings that Warzone will be getting a Cold War-era map to tie-in with the next title, which would explain why a U-2 plane is hiding away under the game's map.

Call Of Duty titles are typically revealed around this time of year, so I'd imagine we'll be getting an official confirmation of the new game sooner rather than later. This is also when screenshots, trailers, and other details inevitably start to trickle out ahead of the reveal, so keep your wits about you.
