'Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War' Will Finally Include FOV Slider On Consoles

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is introducing a feature that console players have been waiting on for a long time: a Field of View (or FOV) slider. As part of a recent blog post, developer Treyarch confirmed that an FOV slider will be available on all platforms - not just PC, as is usually the case for Call Of Duty games.

"We're extremely excited to bring the Field of View (FOV) slider feature to all platforms for the first time in a Black Ops game, and you'll be able to try it out during the Beta," Treyarch wrote. "This is another way we're optimizing Black Ops Cold War for a globally connected, cross-play experience, and the team is dedicated to providing the best performance possible for this feature across all platforms at launch. Give it a shot this weekend and see which setting feels right for you."

This is a pretty big deal for console players, especially since it's been argued that Modern Warfare players on PC have always had something of an advantage over their console-playing brethren, specifically as a result of having access to an FOV slider.

Obviously being able to adjust how much you can see on your screen is incredibly handy, especially if you happen to be playing an FPS. As various Warzone players have proven in recent months, there are certain enemies or hazards that PC players can see because of their adjustable FOV that console players had no idea were there.

"I can't tell you how many times I've been spectating my console friends only to watch them sweep across an enemy without ever seeing them," one user wrote in the comments of a Reddit post detailing the Warzone FOV argument. "The biggest disadvantage on console is easily the FOV. The next is just overall detail. I can see an enemy from very far away when my console friends can't."

Hopefully bringing this feature to consoles will help level the playing field at long last. At least until all the PC cheaters start to flock to the game and force console players to turn off the cross-play functionality... again.
