Call Of Duty Games Are Officially Too Big For 500GB PlayStation 4 Consoles

It's finally happened guys. The Call Of Duty franchise has gotten so massive, so greedy for space on your hard drive, that Activision is now warning players that a 500GB PlayStation 4 console may no longer be big enough to hold Call Of Duty: Warzone, Modern Warfare, and Black Ops Cold War all at the same time.

This stark reality comes with the reveal of file sizes of Warzone's big Season Two update across all platforms. PC once again has it the worst with a 20GB update if you have Warzone and Modern Warfare installed, but the PS4 isn't too far behind. You'll need to make sure you've got room for another 17GB. Eurogamer notes in a report they were asked to clear 100GB of space before they could download the update, which is obviously super alarming. Given that there's still no way to move PS5 games off the SSD, I can see this kind of thing getting old fast.

It's not looking much better on the last-gen console, unfortunately. Activision admitted in a blog post detailing the Season Two Warzone update that those with a standard 500GB PS4 will need to make room if they have the full versions of Modern Warfare, Warzone, and Black Ops Cold War with all modes and packs installed.

Granted I don't know many people who currently have all three games installed, but that's not really the point. It's three games. Three games should not be so much for a 500GB console that you're advised to clear the decks just for a 17GB update.

"Should you have both games installed and have kept up to date with updates, you may need to delete some unused Game Content to have a successful download and install of the Warzone patch tonight," Activision advises, along with a quick step-by-step guide on how exactly to do that.

Call Of Duty, I love you, but you have gotten too big.
