Call Of Duty League Won't Allow Mouse And Keyboard Setups On PC

The Call Of Duty League has announced that it will be making the jump from PlayStation 4 consoles to PC as it heads into its new season. While this news has been welcomed by fans and players alike for the number of benefits afforded by PC gaming, some have criticised the League's strange decision to prohibit the use of mouse and keyboard.

That's right, despite jumping to PC, the Call Of Duty League will continue to support controllers in competition. This rather puts the kibosh on anyone who was excited about the idea of switching up to a mouse and keyboard - the preferred setup for a lot of PC gamers who enjoy the occasional FPS.

"Today, the League is announcing it will move pro team competition to PC + Controller beginning with the 2021 season," the League explained in a blog post. "This means that all pro matches will be played on PC and all pro players must use a League-approved controller of their choice.

"Call of Duty League competition will maintain exclusive use of controllers for the upcoming season. This change provides players with expanded choice of controller, allowing them to select the League-approved controller style that works best for their game. More details and rules pertaining to peripherals will be released at a future date."

The League also confirmed that Call of Duty Challengers will go crossplay, which means that amateurs looking to get involved on the open circuit can choose to compete on console or PC. Again though, PC users user will have to choose a League-approved controller, as mouse and keyboard during these competitions will be prohibited.

Still, the move to PC definitely has its cheerleaders. OverActive Media Group co-founder Adam "Grazen" Adamou praised the switch in a tweet, writing: "Very excited by these changes. The move to PC w/ controller gives the league the best of both worlds. We can control the network / updates / security / patches / framerates and see significant performance improvements while maintaining the best of console culture."

Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War launches for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series consoles, and PC on November 13th. Just don't get too attached to the way of the mouse and keyboard if you're really serious about trying to go pro in 2021, I guess.
