Call Of Duty Leaker Suggests 'Warzone' Will Get Cold War-Themed Map

Call Of Duty Leaker Suggests 'Warzone' Will Get Cold War-Themed Map

New clear days.

There's been some confusion as to what the future holds for Call Of Duty: Warzone over the last day or so. Infinity Ward recently teased a ton of new details for Season 4 of the free-to-play battle royale, leading many fans to speculate that the current Verdansk map is being replaced by an entirely new map.

A leaked video recently shared by Reddit moderator DougDagnabbit appeared to show never-before-seen footage of the battle royale. What fans found particularly interesting about this footage was that it featured Urzikstan, a region to the northwest of the current map.

This, coupled with recent comments from Infinity Ward and a few other breadcrumbs, had players believing that the Verdansk map is going to be nuked at the end of Season 3, paving the way for a new Urzikstan map when Season 4 begins. However, a well-known and reliable Call Of Duty leaker appears to have debunked these theories.

YouTuber TheGamingRevolution has reliably leaked a fair bit of Call Of Duty and Warzone information in the past. In his latest video, he takes apart the rumours that Urzikstan is replacing Verdansk. In fact, it sounds as if the footage shared on Reddit isn't actually from Warzone at all, but part of Modern Warfare's Special Ops mode.

TGR goes on to explain that the massive Verdansk map had been in development for well over a year, combining a number of key areas from Spec Ops maps and missions. He reasons that nuking the whole thing to give us another huge map after just a few short months would be a pretty odd move on Infinity Ward's part.

I'm inclined to agree, especially since Infinity Ward's most recent comments basically outright confirm that there's still more of Verdansk to see. Given that there are plenty of mysteries left to solve in Verdansk, there's just no way the map is going away anytime soon.

"Players have already discovered that there is a whole other part of Verdansk they haven't seen yet," narrative director Taylor Kurosaki teased. "They have found clues, and that there is more than meets the eye in this city. Season 4 will unravel some of those mysteries and unlock some of them for our players."

With that said, TGR did suggest that we'll be getting a new map for the battle royale eventually. According to the leaker, Warzone could be getting a Cold War-themed map in late 2020, presumably to tie in with the next Call Of Duty release, which is rumoured to be a new Black Ops game.

Infinity Ward did recently confirm that Warzone would survive into the next-gen and that it'd remain a constant throughout future Call Of Duty releases. If the next COD really is a Cold War-era adventure, it'd make sense for the free-to-play battle royale to get a massive update reflecting that. Just don't expect Verdansk to go anywhere anytime soon. Not when there are still those mysterious bunkers to open.
